The prizes bestowed by the Competition provide invaluable opportunities for gifted young Australians. The Marianne Mathy Scholarship offers a wonderful launching pad for young classical singers.

For the Love of Opera.

Anna Dowsley wins Marianne Mathy Scholarship in 2012. 

NSW mezzo soprano Anna Dowsley, 25 is the winner of the Marianne Mathy Scholarship ('The Mathy') in 2012.

 In  a celebration of talent and dedication, five young singers from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and New Zealand were heard by our distinguished adjudication panel — Jeffrey Black (National), Conal Coad, Dobbs Franks, Michael Halliwell, Huw Humphreys, Yoshinobu Kuribayashi and Anthony Legge. 

The singers were accompanied by the Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Johannes Fritzsch

The audience was treated to a wonderful evening of entertainment, at the newly-named Joan Sutherland Theatre at the Sydney Opera House as they heard our 2012 Finalists:
